Circuits, Vadodara commences operations
...
Meena Circuits Pvt. Ltd., a new PCB
manufacturing plant near Vadodara,
Gujarat has commenced operations last month. Mr. Rashmikant
Raval, VP, informed that the plant will manufacture 1 and 2
layers board initially. The plant has installed capacity of
5000 S. Mtr. The plant is a result of investment made by Mr. B
H Patel, an American of Indian-origin, following the trend of
moving PCB manufacturing to India.
Opto Circuits acquires
Altron...
Bangalore, India based Opto Circuits I Ltd., an
opto-electronics and Medical electronics manufacturers has
acquired Altron Industries (P) Ltd., which is engaged into
Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) from its facility at
Bangalore.
The acqusition will help Opto Circuits further expand its turk-key
solutions capabilities in electronics.
Aspocomp to build new HDI PCB facility in India...
Europe's second largest PCB company plans build a printed
circuit board plant in Chennai, India. This planr will be
India's first High Desity Interconnect (HDI) Printed Circuit
Boards facility.
Aspocomp already has plant in Filand, China and Thailand to
service its global customers. Aspocomp will invest 60 million
euros in the the plant and the plant will be operational in the
second half of 2007.
According to Aspocomp's CEO Maija-Liisa Friman "The expansion
into India is a logical step in the implementation of our
strategy that has already started in Thailand and China. India
is an attractive and rapidly growing market for printed circuit
boards. This project is important as it significantly reinforces
our ability to service our global customers. The project
combines high technology products, production flexibility, a
good delivery capacity, and a competitive cost level."
Taiwan looking at India for the future...
Taiwan the leading player in Electronics manufacturing and
semiconductors is looking at transforming itself into a service
based economy. Its production volumes are falling due to
competition from China. Hence, Taiwan feels that it needs to
shift gear on the services front. Precisely, "Taiwan's
traditional strengths in semiconductors and India's strength in
software is an overarching trend, under which partnerships can
be developed.
The Taiwan government's Institute for Information Industry
(III) president JS Ke, said, "There are a number of areas where
partnerships can be established including integrated circuit
design, between Indian and Taiwanese companies. We are setting
up an offshore development centre in Chennai to explore these
partnerships." India and Taiwan have signed an MoU to make these
partnerships possible.
LG Electronics to produce CDMA
handsets in India...
LG ELECTRONICS INDIA (PVT) LTD will start manufacturing CDMA
mobile handsets at its Pune facility from the second half of
2006. The company, which was the first to set up a production
unit in India for manufacturing GSM handsets, in keeping with
its plan to make India a manufacturing and export hub.
According to product group head (GSM) H S Bhatia, It was also
working on two models having global positioning systems likely
to be launched later this year. Hwoever, The company would not
make any major investments till 2010 following its investment of
US$15 million for setting up the Ranjangaon plant near Pune and
R&D centre in Bangalore.
Celectronix is Acquired by Jabil....
In midst of positive reports and forecasts for India's
electronics manufacturing industry's compound annual growth rate
of 23 percent, reaching $40 billion in 2010, Jabil Circuit Inc.
revealed that it is acquiring an India-based electronics
manufacturing firm, Celetronix International Ltd.
"India has a growing domestic economy and is well-known for
engineering services. We believe India will become an
increasingly important location to support hardware development
and manufacturing for export to the global market," said Timothy
Main, Jabil's President and CEO. "The complementary capabilities
of Celetronix will make us the dominant provider of services to
and from this important emerging market," he added.
Celetronix provides design and manufacturing services to
customers in the consumer, computing and storage market,
according to Jabil. The acquisition will add 5,750 employees in
three locations: Mumbai, Chennai and Pondicherry. Jabil
already has manufacturing facility of 176,000 square feet in
Ranjangaon, India.
